What does it mean to fast like a girl?

Fasting like a girl means timing your fasting windows to your menstrual cycle instead of fasting the same way every day. A woman's hormones shift across a 28-day cycle, so the fasting protocol that works in week one can backfire in week three.

There are four phases. In Renew (your period), short, gentle fasts of around 12 to 14 hours support recovery. In Rise (the week after your period), your body handles longer fasting windows of 14 to 18 hours well. In Peak (around ovulation), 13 to 15 hour windows protect your energy. In Nurture (the week or two before your period), shorter, gentler windows of 12 to 14 hours fit best, or no fast at all if your body is asking for rest.
